Haiti, here I come!
OMG. I leave for Haiti in 5.5 hrs. I'll be working with Heart to Heart International hopefully being very useful.
Why am I going... and what my expectations are...
I wish to use my nursing skills to aid, educate and empower others. As the poorest country in the world, Haitians are particularly in need of health care at the moment. Joining Heart to Heart International on a volunteer medical mission is a challenging and unique opportunity for me. I hope that I can give something to this devastated community that will help it recover, even in a small way, from the recent horrible earthquake. I expect to see life at its most difficult, to feel frustrated by my inability to meet all the health challenges I will face and to feel annoyed about the inequity in the world when I settle back into Jersey City in one month.
