First steps
Who remembered their first steps??? Not I. But it's wonderful to catch someone else's first steps in life. The rangers in Darwin go out in search of turtle nests and move them to a safer part of the beach earlier in the year. When the turtlings hatch, the public is contacted to asssemble that evening, given education and instruction to assist in the turtlings' release (essentially, "you can watch, but stay out of the way"). It was a touching event and left me with mother-like worry of the miniscule babies' first three days of life of continuous swimming into the deep, blue ocean.Pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/livealittle/sets/72157608407238266/
